Winterize Your Home

Preparing your home for the Winter months

Avoid mishaps from water damage during the winter months

If you just purchased your first home, here’s some tips for winterizing your home.

  • Turn your Sprinkler to manual or program it to water once a month because your lawn needs about one inch of water per month. Of course, if there was a lot of rain, skip watering.
  • If your system doesn’t have a rain and freeze sensor, get one installed. The sensor prevents the irrigation controller from turning on if temperatures drop below freezing.
  • Before a freeze, cover the vents around the pier and beam foundation, insulate or cloth wrap your outdoor drains, outdoor faucets.
  • If you have a vacant investment property, turn off water valves inside and outdoors.
